Peach Ice Tea Mojito

With so much Christmas prep happening, I need refreshing drinks at one arm's distance. This drink is summer in a glass. It's like an adult Glucon-D! So refreshing! It's a perfect drink to serve for brunch or barbecues. The bigger the batch, the yummier the drink.

Makes 1ltr

100ml peach tea syrup*
1tbsp Sugar
1 cucumber
10-12 basil leaves
Cold water
Ice (optional)

*Monin usually makes amazing syrups. Incase you don't have this you can use Lipton instant peach ice tea powder as well

In a tumbler, muddle sugar, basil & the peach tea syrup. Add water to dilute and fill the tumbler and stir till sugar is dissolved. Finely slice the cucumber and add. Add ice et viola!

P.S: This recipe is for a mocktail, but you can easily add vodka, rum or gin.

30 Rock

For a long time I have looked longingly at my 'Drinks On Me' label wishing it grow. For a long time I was off alcohol you see (long story, don't ask), and swore that the minute I start drinking again, I must mix something for the blog.

So when I did end up mixing a drink, the recipe came to me from one of my favourite TV shows. Fans of 30 Rock will recognise this as Jack  Donaghy's signature drink...other than whiskey ofcourse. To the bartender, its called a Nancy Drew (or Hardy Boy for men if you listen to Jack). To me, its one of the tastiest drinks I've had. It's so refreshing in the summers that sometimes I forget it's alcoholic.

Alec Baldwin calls for a white rum with diet ginger ale and a splash of lime. I've going to go further and use citrus rum to give the drink a nice tangy twist.

In a tall glass pour the following ingredients over ice cubes:

50ml Bacardi Limon or any other citrus white rum*
1/2 can of ginger ale
Juice of 1/2 lemon

*regular white rum will do too

Cheers!

Eggnog

There are obviously tons of recipes online on eggnog, but I find this recipe to be the simplest. My dad loves to mix cocktails, and being the festive season, we thought this is something we could try together. This recipe is for a single glass of eggnog...and ofcourse I did experiment with different versions and different measure. Here is my favourite version:

Ingredients:

1 egg yolk
50ml cream
1cap of rum or bourbon
Sugar syrup according to taste
Nutmeg or cinnamon to garnish

Combine everything in a shaker and dry shake for ~10seconds. Add ice and then shake again. Strain and garnish with nutmeg or cinnamon.

Tip: You can use any dark spirit. Trust me, don't bother with 'white' spirits. Leave your vodka, gin and white rum for a different cocktail. Avoid cream based liqueurs too as the recipe already calls for cream and your overall mix will be too heavy.
